Favorite pumpkin patches in the Quad Cities

It’s finally feeling a little like autumn in the Quad Cities area, and with the cooling temperatures come some of my favorite activities of the year. There are so many wonderful activities, programs and festivals in the Quad Cities during the fall. But one of our favorite family traditions is visiting the pumpkin patch.

Pumpkin patches in the Quad Cities

If you are on the hunt for a place to pick up pumpkins, here are a few of my family’s favorites in the region:

Freight House Farmer’s Market, Davenport, Iowa

This is definitely a place that deserves a visit this fall. I think autumn is my favorite time to explore the largest farmer’s market in the Quad Cities area. (Every Saturday morning in downtown Davenport.) You’ll find tons of garden-fresh produce and treats, and the mums and pumpkins in the fall are incredible. The best part, there are several wonderful vendors in one place.

Country Corner, Alpha, Ill.

This is a great place to pick your own pumpkins or find one that’s already been picked. And there’s lots more for all ages – a country market, petting zoo animals, play areas, pumpkin cannon, hayrack rides and more. And at night, check out the bonfire pits, nighttime paintball maze and corn maze.

Buffalo Pumpkin Patch, Buffalo, Iowa

This is a fun spot to spend a day with your family and friends. In addition to picking pumpkins, you can visit farm animals, try pony rides and goat chariots, and enjoy the straw castle maze.

Pride of the Wapsi, Long Grove, Iowa

Another wonderful spot where you can pick your pumpkins right off the vine. Weekends also mean a great array of activities specifically for families – for $9/person, you can try them all – the corn maze, barrel train, petting zoo, sandbox and more.

  1. You might not be aware of this but there is one in New Era area of Muscatine call the Red Barn pumpkin patch. They do a program for Muscatine Schools and sell pumpkins and other items and they also have a tractor ride and lots of fun for the small folks.

  2. Please add Shady Knoll Farm near Hampton IL. You pick or already picked pumpkins, lots of squash and gourds, flowers by the armful, corn maze and for the little kids a straw bale maze, bunny petting and other animals you can pet and feed. School farm tours, picnic tables for you to sit at or have your sack lunch at. East to get to just off I-80 or John Deere Rd/Hwy 5/I-88.
