SPRING HAS ARRIVED! I’m sorry for the all-caps, but can I get an “amen?”
It’s always a relief when spring arrives in the Quad Cities. And it’s the perfect time to find some new, outdoor adventures. Luckily for us, our area has so much to do outside for families – from festivals and fairs to parks and forest preserves.
As the temperatures warmed up, my family spent the morning hiking at Illiniwek Forest Preserve. It was the perfect spot to get active, get outside and spend time together. (And the hike is totally beginner and child-friendly.)
If you more of a bike-lover, there are some great trails here, too. Plus, a large park for kids is available right across from the trail entrance.
I think this is the first of many hikes for our family this spring and summer.
There are plenty of wonderful ways to spend Mother’s Day, but if you want your family to spend quality time together and enjoy the outdoors – check out the Get Out and Trail (GOAT) events on Mother’s Day weekend (Saturday, May 7).
Travel both sides of the river between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and stop by the hosted stops for refreshments and activities. This is a free event sponsored by the Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, and Moline Park and Recreation Departments. (No registration required.)
Check out the map below – there are great spots throughout the metro Quad Cities.
