I have found a new restaurant on the banks of the Mississippi River in Davenport, Iowa. Located a short walk west of the Davenport Sailing Club, which is one of the oldest sailing clubs in the country, and on the bike/pedestrian path, the Driftwood Pub is a wonderful addition to the area. If you crave good food with a river view and an outdoor dining experience, I highly recommend the Driftwood which offers the best view of the river in the Quad Cities.
The exterior of the restaurant is nicely landscaped with plenty of parking. I have gone to the restaurant twice, once during the week and once on a Sunday. Both days were excellent experiences for a leisurely dining experience.
On my first visit with a group of 3 other friends, we chose the fish tacos. Prepared by Chef Gianni, the fish is brought in from Wisconsin where the owners owned another restaurant. The tacos were excellent with perfect seasoning.
On my next visit, which was on a Sunday afternoon, I ordered the Peel and Eat Shrimp which was wonderful. The red sangria was a perfect accompaniment and not overly sweet.
To finish the meal, we tried the giant chocolate chip cookie baked in a skillet and the homemade raspberry cheesecake. Both were delicious and well presented!
I plan to try the salmon on my next visit. How can I miss with a river view and good food? I will take a walk after dinner on the bike/pedestrian path and watch the sunset which will be outstanding.
