I am an artist who loves nature as the subject of my paintings and drawings. I am also a gardener who enjoys attracting birds to my green spaces. Because of my interest I was very intrigued by the newest exhibit at the Moline Public Library. The exhibit is called John James Audubon: Audubon’s Birds of America.
The hardest part about Halloween and having young kids in your family, is that you have children who love the scary and children who get scared easily. How do you find a family-fun balance, where all your kids can have a good time on the late October holiday?
Up until recently, I had never experienced the Rocky Horror Show. I had heard stories all growing up, but never found myself in a position to where I’d watched the movie or seen the live act. I decided to change that this fall season at The Speakeasy in downtown Rock Island.
On the first perfect fall day last week, I drove south on Harrison Street and decided to take a turn into Vander Veer Park in Davenport to see what the new season had brought to the botanical center. The park, established in 1885, and conservatory are a special place for me to gather my thoughts and to enjoy nature in the middle of the city.
For a chance to see rock legends in person, don’t miss The Moody Blues playing live at the Adler Theatre on Saturday, October 22. This show is not to be missed for fans of this iconic band! I can’t wait to see them live!
Fall is here and beautiful weather means that I want some comfort food in an outdoor setting. My sweetie and I took a drive to LeClaire, Iowa. LeClaire is a fun shopping destination river town in the area. It is also known as the home of The American Pickers from the History Channel.
We chose to stop at Big Dave & Holly’s restaurant along the Mississippi River just east of the LeClaire shopping area.
If you are a parent, you are very likely familiar with Peppa Pig. This show is a kid favorite found on Nick Jr. – following Peppa, her brother George, and their friends and family. The show reaches nearly 73 million households every day.
And after enjoying years of watching Peppa on television, my preschooler and I are thrilled to see Peppa LIVE at the Adler Theatre in Davenport.
There’s nothing better than a great shopping experience that is full of small businesses – that’s why I’m so excited about the newest outdoor shopping event in Geneseo, Ill.
And this isn’t the same ol’, same ol’ street market. You’ll want to check out the unique and unexpected items – for gifts or for yourself.
The first annual State Street Market is Saturday, Oct. 8, 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in downtown Geneseo (only a short 25 minute drive from the Quad Cities). Continue reading Don’t miss State Street Market on October 8
Next to coffee, what gets you through the day best? Chocolate, of course! As a Pre-K teacher, I’m constantly in the discussion, debating with my co-teachers over who is going to buy the monthly chocolate purchase to save a little of our sanity on those “off days.” Of course, along with chocolate and coffee, exercise is part of that ultimate combo-pack to boost your overall daily attitude and well-being.
