While the East Side of Davenport has seen a lot of growth over the past several years, the West Side is now following suit. There are many new establishments that have opened up over the past few months, offering new options and wide range of places to have a meal.
The one making the biggest splash is Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen located at 3906 N. Marquette Street in Davenport. When the eatery opened in in November of last year, people were waiting for up to 3 hours for food, waiting in lines that circled around the block! While it has calmed down a little since, it is a bustling favorite that will be here to stay for some time.
If you’re a fan of Mexican food, two taquerias recently opened up in the West End. La Flama moved to 114 Myrtle St. F from downtown Moline, joining several other businesses located in two new strip malls. They have a drive through option and a food truck that will be traveling around the area during warmer months.
Los Candiles Mexican Restaurant just opened up at 1717 W. 3rd Street. They have daily specials and a reasonably priced menu.
There are also two new Pho restaurants in west Davenport. Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup served with broth, rice noodles, herbs and spices, vegetables and meat. California Pho is located at 3559 W. Kimberly Road #5, and they are open every day of the week except Tuesday.
Pho 9999 is located at 808 W. River Drive, in the Oriental Food Grocery Store. They are only open Saturdays 8am-7pm and Sundays 8am – 6pm. The food is worth it to take the time to plan a visit.
My personal favorite of all the new business additions to my neighborhood is the reopening of the newly renovated Frick’s Tap at 1402 W. 3rd Street. It’s a beautiful bar with great outdoor seating, a good draft list, and a delicious BBQ kitchen that smokes their own meat.
While the East side of town has its draws and its ever expanding list of choices, sometimes it’s nice to change things up. Come check out the west side of Davenport, there’s been a lot of new action lately!
