Quad Cities Beer Week (QCBW) Returns for its 5th Year Anniversary! QCBW is a celebration of the local craft and the small independent business owners that make and sell great beer. There is a special beer event held every evening, at a different location, highlighting a different aspect of the world of brewed beer.
Day 1 – Monday, May 1st – O’Keefe’s Home Brew Demo – 2pm
We kick off the week every year with making a beer on the outdoor pavilion at O’Keefe’s in downtown Moline with the local home brewers. It starts around 2pm and wraps up at 8pm. We’re there for a bit, so stop down anytime throughout or be there for the whole brew and learn all about the process.
Day 2 – Tuesday, May 2nd – Sippi’s Brewer’s Dinner – 6pm
On Day 2 of QC Beer Week we join Front Street Brewery and Bent River Brewing Co. at Sippi’s in downtown Davenport for a special meal. It is a ticketed event that does require making a reservation, as seats will be limited. The cost includes: 4 beers, 2 from each brewery; 4 courses; and a chance to hear from the brewers who will be there on hand to tell us all about the beer and what’s going on in the breweries. There are limited tickets at $50 a piece – that includes food, beers, tax, and tip. Attendees must prepay to reserve their spot, as space is limited. To do so, call the restaurant at 563-323-3911.
Day 3 – Wednesday, May 3rd – Secret Beer Tapping
On this day, in a tavern somewhere in the QCA, one keg of a very special, locally crafted beer will be tapped. But details won’t be released until a week ahead of time. For details, stay posted on the QCA Beer Week Facebook Page as the date grows closer!
Day 4 – Thursday, May 4th – QC Tap Takeover at Radicle Effect – 6pm
For the 4th year in a row, Radicle Effect Brewerks in Rock Island hosts the Quad Cities Tap Takeover. They will have all 10 of their taps dedicated to locally produced beer. Wake Brewing will also be there handing out samples of their brews. If there was ever a time you wanted to meet and greet with the local brewers, this is the event!
Day 5 – Friday, May 5th – Cinco de Mayo at Baked Beer & Bread Co.
Day 6 – Saturday, May 6th – Big Brew Day in downtown Moline – 8am
Big Brew Day is a National Holiday for home brewers all across the country. Men and women come together, brew beer, and join in on the National Toast at 12pm. Around 2pm live music starts. The day is spent in the courtyard between the River House and Rebellion Brew Haus in downtown Moline. It’s an all day affair, so stop down anytime and see several different home brewers set up and making beer.
Day 7 – Sunday, May 7th – Stout Wars at RIBCO – 12pm
Every year RIBCO in downtown Rock Island pulls out some of their darkest, boldest beers from their cellar and hosts a celebration of stouts. This year they’re doing it on a Sunday for the QC Beer Week wrap-up, no better note to end on. Keep an eye out for the beer list, which should be released soon!
The Quad Cities has a wonderfully diverse craft beer scene, from what’s made commercially or personally, to what’s distributed in, we’re fortunate to have access to so much deliciousness. Pick a day and support the locally crafted community. www.qcbeerweek.com
