A Day at Good’s Furniture

If you’re ever looking for an afternoon adventure, I suggest planning a visit to Good’s Furniture in Kewanee, Illinois. It is about an hour’s drive outside of the Quad Cities area. While the main business of Good’s is a furniture store, I recently discovered that there is so much more to the establishment.

IMG_6791Good’s was opened in 1895 in downtown Kewanee and has since expanded to 12 multilevel buildings spanning onto three city blocks, totaling in a quarter million square feet. The place is enormous!

It offers a lot for those who are shopping for furniture; it has many different brands available all in one location, so one wouldn’t have to bounce around from store to store. It also offers clearance rooms and holds different sales throughout the year for those on a budget.

IMG_6795Good’s is a multi-generational family business that has not only positively impacted the history and growth of the city it operates in, but the area as a whole. It has evolved from a store front to a travel destination, that brings in tourists from all over the world. As one walks throughout the establishment, its history as well as news-making events are posted.

There is also other shopping to be done at the Shops @Market Square inside Good’s. If you’re looking for something for yourself or a gift for a loved one, there are over 30 different brands to choose from, such as Life if Good, Smart Wool, and Tommy Bahama.

The architectural elements of the different buildings are also quite fascinating. There are several multilevel glass elevators, a skywalk, and a koi pond.

Good’s has a lovely Wine & Cellar Restaurant, where I stopped in to try the famous Reuben Loaf. It was delicious! Tender corned beef and the yummy Reuben fixings baked into the bread. Everything from their kitchen is homemade by their chef, Kathy. The special of the day was Mac ‘n’ Cheese and the Coconut Cream Cake was delicious.

Overall, I had a great time adventuring to Kewanee to visit Good’s Furniture. Whether you’re looking for a new piece for your home or want to explore a new area just outside of the Quad Cities, I suggest planning a visit.
