Baked Beer & Bread Co.

The newest addition to the local brewing scene in the Quad Cities is coming up on its one-year anniversary.   Baked Beer & Bread Co. is located in the Village of East Davenport, at 1113 Mound Street.  With plans already for expansion, I sat down with their newly appointed Head Brewer Curt Johnson to find out what’s coming up for the establishment.

17861473_2114885172071517_514417319256736535_nBaked Beer & Bread Co. has a lot to offer a wide range of customers. When asked how to describe Baked, Curt said, “Baked is a destination for anybody who likes to indulge in anything.” What a great way to describe the place!

19060127_2154302234796477_3146757565895946489_nWhen it first opened up, Baked began as a bakery that sold some of the best pastries in town. The sticky buns there are amazing. They are constantly rotating different types of baked goods in and out of their display case and I have yet to have a disappointing treat!


Soon after, the brewery and bar opened up. At first there was a motley crew of home brewers that would come in and make a few batches of beer while sharing the tap list with beers distributed in from other breweries. Now they have a permanent brewer on staff that will be in charge of the entire process, from recipe creation to keg tapping and tastings.

Baked has also become a cool live music venue that promotes music every Friday and Saturday night.

IMG-6585The newest addition is the opening of the kitchen for lunch and dinner. Their menu is smaller but also constantly rotating with daily specials and creative concoctions like brisket tacos and different chicken sandwiches. On my last visit I had the Hot Chicken sandwich served with smoked Serrano butter, sweet jalapeno slaw, garlic aioli on a house-made toasted brioche bun. It was one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had!


And what is to come? Baked is working on expanding, already. Curt told me they’re going to open up a tap room that has his beer on draft as well as an outdoor seating area.


The past year has been exciting to watch this new business open, thrive, and grow into being able to offer our community so much.
