Miss Effie’s Country Flowers & Garden Stuff

Recently I took a Sunday afternoon drive to visit Miss Effie’s Country Flowers and Garden Stuff, located just outside of the Quad Cities in Donahue, Iowa. Nestled in the rolling hills of farm country, off a gravel road, is one of the most beautiful places you can visit.

You pay $20 and they give you an empty milk jug gallon with the top cut off and some gardening sheers.  You then can wander all around the farm, picking flowers and enjoying the scenery.

Often times people will bring out a picnic lunch or share a bottle of wine while enjoying one of several cozy places to sit, the “Corn-Zebo” being a favorite.

Miss Effie’s also sells farm fresh eggs, homemade jams, hand spun yarn, and other neat little items in their gift shop.
