The Quad City Symphony Orchestra’s traveling piano has made its way around the Quad Cities landing at Augustana College’s Gerber Center for Student Life.
The QCSO website explains the piano’s adventures stemmed from the idea that music “joins this community together.” The traveling piano offers the opportunity for people to share their talents right out in our community. Working with two themes: the rivers and Quad Cities life, the piano was painted by students at Davenport Central High School/Creative Arts Academy. The colorful instrument definitely draws a crowd.
For the past few months, the piano has been at Augustana College in the Gerber Center for Student Life. What should have been a tricky task – moving a piano – was really quite easy:
It’s been really fun to see various students, staff and visitors walk by, take a look at the piano, circle around, read the sign and, finally, stop to play. Some musicians are quite good, some grab a friend for a rendition of Chopsticks, all have fun expressing their music! Anyone that plays and posts is encouraged to use #LetMusicFlowQC.
Would your place of business, non-profit, or place-of-fun like to host the piano – contact the QCSO for details!
