GruBeez – A Great Eatery in Davenport

In the West End of Davenport, on the corner of 3rd and Pine Streets, is a small little business named GruBeez. It’s an eatery that has been in operation for a little over 3 years now and is a hidden gem in the Quad Cities.

I’ve been enjoying their delicious wares for some time now. It’s close to my house and I like to support businesses in the neighborhood. And, I think they have something to offer just about everyone.

GruBeez doesn’t have a sit-in restaurant, though they have a very large outdoor seating area for when it’s nice out. It is also within a stone’s throw of several different taverns, which allow you to bring in the food and enjoy it there.

Because it is a smaller operation, nothing is ever over $9.99. They do have a set menu but also have daily features that are usually more than reasonably priced. These are often chosen by the owners purchasing different foods that are on special, with the intent of keeping prices low for their customers. However, that doesn’t mean that they skip steps. Everything is homemade from the sauces to the patties to the tater tots.

Their Potato Bites AKA Tater Tots

The food is delicious and always cooked fresh to order. They are known for their Muff Burger, a breakfast style cheeseburger with egg, bacon, and hash browns on it. Another popular item is the Philly Roll, a Philly cheese steak egg roll. They also make great ribs, tacos, and wings. If you have a sweet tooth, here’s the place to get your fried Oreos year-round. There’s a kids’ menu too.

You can call ahead to place an order at (563) 323-1404 or use their walk-up window. If you’re enjoying a pint at a nearby tavern, you can call in your order and they will walk it over to you. I highly recommend giving GruBeez a try. It may be a bit off the beaten path for some, but definitely worth the trip. Keep an eye on what new creations they’re making or what’s on special on Facebook.  (You’ll be drooling after seeing the pictures.) Open Tuesday-Sunday.
