8 Great Comic Book Shops in the Quad Cities

Comic Books and accessories have always been something that “collectors” have loved hunting down–seeking out the newest release or digging for a rare gem in a sea of cardboard boxes. This alongside the booming popularity of superhero films and television shows, the art of comic is alive and well in the Quad Cities.

I recently set out and explored the local fan favorites and have a great time in doing so!

From what I learned that I must preface here is that these shops offer so much more. From figurines to Magic the Gathering playing cards, role playing games, and sports memorabilia, each business carries differing inventories that are worth mentioning below.

That all being said, in no discernible order, listed below are eight great local comic book shops.

  1. The Comiq Rack – 2715 18th Ave., Rock Island, IL

The Comiq Rack is a nice place to start. It has a nice variety of comics and collectibles, games, and cards. My favorite perk about the place is their monthly book club. It features varying genres of their inventory thereby allowing you to explore as well as converse with others in the group. Facebook

  1. Tim’s Corner – 1030 30th Street, Rock Island, IL

Tim’s has been a classic of the QC comic book scene for 35 years. With a large back stock and specialized, rare items, Tim can get a hold of just about anything you’re looking for. There is a great selection of new releases and collectibles as well.

  1. Mellow Blue Planet – 2212 5th Ave., Rock Island, IL

Located in a little, green house on a one-way, one doesn’t suspect at first, but Mellow Blue Planet is one of the coolest comic shops around. It focuses on the independent titles and smaller presses alongside a larger selection of action and statue figures. A specialty of Mellow Blue Planet is protection supplies. They sell materials to protect all your collectibles. From comics to vinyl to match cars, they can help you preserve it.

  1. Have Fun Collectibles – 4327 Avenue of the Cities, Moline, IL

Have Fun Collectibles has been a premier comic shop in the Quad Cities for 11 years and they are the largest. They have a great selection of back issues, current books, and a wide variety of toys, figurines, and other comic related memorabilia.

  1. Superstars & Superheroes – 1527 N. Harrison St., Davenport, IA

Superstars & Superheroes is one of the oldest comic shops in town.  It has a great feel to it and it’s filled with experience and wisdom. For 35 years, it’s been selling books and baseball games. Superstars & Superheroes now specializes in a nice back stock in the 1960’s and older comics, as well as non-superhero comics, and sports and car memorabilia.

  1. In This Issue – 3796 State St., Bettendorf, IA

In This Issue is the newest game in town. They sell comics, games, cards, and figurines.  They host Magic the Gathering draft nights on Tuesday and plan on hosting tournaments as well as role playing game sessions in the new year.

  1. Midwest Collectibles – 3451 N. Fairmount St. B, Davenport, IA

Midwest Collectibles has been in the game for 36 years, arguably longer than anyone else around. They have an impressive selection of sports cards alongside their comic selection.

  1. Fun Time Comics & Collectibles – 903 E. Kimberly Rd. #9, Davenport, IA

Fun Time Comics & Collectibles has a pretty wide inventory including comics, memorabilia of many types, and an array of figurines and games (particularly Monopoly). If you’re ever looking for a specialty or rare version of the classic board game, stop in here.
