Memorial Day Weekend 2018

Anticipation is in the air already as people are gearing up for the first holiday 3-day weekend of the summer.  So…. What you doing?  We’ve put together a list of things to keep you busy when you’re not grilling out.

The Channel Cat Water Taxi starts for the season on Friday morning.  The Backwater Gamblers have their first waterski show on Sunday night at 6:30 pm and another one on Monday for the holiday.

You can enjoy a 1-1/2 hour sightseeing cruise on the Twilight Riverboat in LeClaire on May 26-28 at 11am, 1pm, or 3pm. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for children. They can be purchased online at or onsite the day of the cruise.

The Quad Cities River Bandits have an eight-game homestand starting May 21 through Memorial Day, May 28 with promotions every game.  It starts with a 6:30 p.m. game on Monday, May 21.  Throughout the eight games, promotions include a free baseball, wrestling great Jake the Snake on May 24, Bark in the Park on Sunday, fireworks, 2017 World Championship Ring replica, Military, and more.  The River Bandits play at Modern Woodmen Park in downtown Davenport, Iowa, with a Ferris Wheel, double-decker carousel, and other amusement rides.

Start the weekend with New Odyssey on Friday and Saturday, May 25-26 at 8:30 p.m. at the Rhythm City Casino Resort, 7077 Elmore Ave. in Davenport.  New Odyssey (3 Guys-30 Instruments) is a cover band from Chicago playing all types of music from across the decades including today’s top hits.

Or listen to the Temptation Review on Friday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Isle Casino Hotel, 1777 Isle Parkway in Bettendorf.  The Temptations Review with Special Guest Theo Peoples creates unforgettable memories with a roster of beloved multi-platinum hits.

Enjoy Heritage Days in the Walnut Grove Pioneer Village on Sunday and Monday in Scott County Park in Long Grove, Iowa. Period dressed “Friends” demonstrate old-world crafts like blacksmithing, weaving, and more. Explore the village and enjoy food, children’s games, make-it-take-it crafts, and the Wild West Shootout Skits by the Wapsi Wranglers.

Over 100 growers, bakers, crafters, and artisans will have their wares for sale at the Freight House Farmer’s Market in Davenport. This is the largest Farmer’s Market in the Quad Cities. Hours: Saturday from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm and Sunday from 10 am until 2 pm.

On Monday, over 400 cyclists from throughout the U.S. will start/finish in the heart of the Village of East Davenport for the annual Quad Cities Kwik Star Criterium. There are many races throughout the day.

The course starts on 11th Street, then travels into the hills of the McClellan Heights neighborhood, before plunging back down 12th Street, and back to the start/finish for a total course distance of ¾’s of a mile.

There will be a Kids Zone Play area with bouncy houses, and a kid’s race at 3:00 p.m. for boys and girls from 3-10 years. There is also junior races between 9-18 years that drew 30 competitors last year.

The Quad Cities Criterium is the 2nd longest continuously running bicycle race in the U.S. The Quad Cities Criterium is included in the four Memorial Day Weekend Bicycle Races with Burlington, Iowa, on Friday night and Saturday and Muscatine, Iowa, on Sunday.
