Shop At Rock The Arts & OMG BeckyFEST

Two creative arts events should be top on your shopping experiences in the Quad Cities this year. Both Rock The Arts and OMG BeckyFEST promises to work their shopping mojo on you!

Rock The Arts

Rock The Arts on December 7-8 is a new twist on the Gallery Hop concept that has been thriving in downtown Rock Island for well over a decade. This is the second Rock The Arts event with three large venues: The ARTery/MidCoast West Gallery, Quad City Arts, and the DeSoto Building (Facebook page).  These venues will feature quality art, art demonstrations and refreshments. The festive nature of Rock The Arts will get holiday shoppers in the mood for finding one-of-a-kind hand crafted gifts.

Quad City Arts will have the opening of their newest juried exhibit, “Finding Inspiration: Monet to Matisse”, in coordination with the Figge Art Museum’s French Moderns exhibit. Their sales gallery has a fine representation of quality regional artwork (both functional and decorative) at reasonable prices.

The ARTery is an eclectic gallery with affordable art for all ages. Within the space, MidCoast Gallery West will have the opening of work by artist, Jeanne O’Melia.

Live demonstrations will include the Quad City Wood Turners doing wood turning and artist, Joel Knanishu, doing raku firing at the DeSoto Building. Both are interesting processes to watch and will intrigue people of all ages. This is a family-friendly event so bring the kids to learn about the arts and the process of creating.

There is no admission fee for the two-day event. Running both Friday, December 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 8 from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m., Rock The Arts promises to meet your gift searching needs.

OMG BeckyFEST!

Across the river in Davenport, OMG BeckyFEST will be open on Saturday, December 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the RiverCenter. A makers paradise, OMG BeckyFEST will entice you with original work by over 130 creative businesses. This is a kid-friendly event so bring the family!

There is only a $2.00 donation to attend! Engage with the makers and be thrilled by their creations!

Deborah Doehler As a life-time resident of the Quad Cities, Deborah is a multi-media artist who works in jewelry, painting, pottery, drawing, collage, and design. Deborah is retired from Black Hawk College after working for 35 years in Marketing as an award-winning graphic designer, writer, supervisor and graphics coordinator. Since 1975, she has had her own design company and studio. You’ll find Deborah serving on the Visual and Public Arts Committee for Quad City Arts where she was a board member for 8 years. She supports art and cultural events in the Quad Cities area including volunteering for events at MidCoast Fine Arts Bucktown Center for the Arts where she leases a gallery space. She served as Marketing Director for Riverssance Festival of Fine Arts for 15 years.
