The Key at Union Arcade is a new cafe and bar that recently opened up at 229 Brady Street in downtown Davenport, Iowa. I recently had the pleasure of having lunch at the new business and learning all about the happenings there.
The Key serves breakfast, lunch, desserts, and small plates during the dinner hour. They open up at 8am and offer different house-made pastries, such as cinnamon rolls and eclairs, and feature different egg sandwiches and burritos. The Key features DOMA Coffee, from a company out of Idaho.
For lunch they have a lovely sandwich selection. I enjoyed the Croque Madame, a ham sandwich served with béchamel (a version of cheese sauce), additional cheese broiled on the bread, and an egg. A friend of mine enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich that was made with walnuts and grapes. We both chose the broccoli salad and chips for our sides, both made in-house, and both delicious.
At 4:30 pm, the Key switches over to the dinner menu featuring pizzas, small plates, and kabobs. They serve different soups each day for lunch and dinner and feature different specials. The evening also welcomes Happy Hour from 4-6 pm, with daily drink deals.
The Key has come up with a creative dessert concept they call “Boozerts”, desserts with a spirited twist. Pictured below is a brownie with peanut butter whipped vodka topping and a shot of Godiva chocolate liqueur. The Key has a full liquor bar, draft beers, as well as a bottles of beer and wine.
The Key at Union Arcade is a cool, new addition to downtown Davenport. It is featuring creative, tasty concoctions that many different types of people could enjoy, may it be someone looking for lunch, a date night out, or friends looking for a hip hangout place to grab a bite and a drink. I look forward to seeing how this business grows over time.
The Key is open Monday through Saturday at 8am. Weekdays closing time is 9 pm, Fridays is 12 am, and Saturdays is at 1 am. Follow them on Facebook here.
