Blo Blow Dry Bar

The Quad Cities now has their first dry bar – a salon that does not cut hair, but offers many other beauty-focused services.

The Blo Blow Dry Bar is located at 2453 53rd Ave in Bettendorf, Iowa. They are open 7 days a week, Monday through Friday 9am – 6pm, Saturday 9am – 7pm and Sunday 10am – 5pm; you can schedule during off hours for up to two hours before or after their set hours.

So what do they do at Blo? They offer both hair styling and makeup services. You can call ahead and make an appointment or walk-in and they offer services by price or you can join their membership and receive deals and discounts. I recently visited the business to learn all about it.

Hair styling services begin with a blow out at $40, $30 on Monday & Tuesdays. Their staff will help you decide how you’d like your hair done – they can do up dos, buns, braids, or style your hair down curled or straightened. You are also welcome to bring an idea in and the Blo staff will accommodate you.

After you have made your choice on how to do your hair, the staff will wash, dry, and style it. There are add-ons available to enhance your experience; you can get a head message, a conditioning treatment, or get your roots touched up. Blo also offers toning treatments for blondes and offer the products they use in-house for sale. They use Unite hair products and Glo mineral make up.

On the makeup menu at Blo, they offer full face, eyes, and lashes services or get the full Makeup-on-the-go option for $100. Blo can also come to you. You can have a staff member come to your home or your special event and provide hair and makeup services.

Blo also offers full bar rentals. If you want to rent out the space for a group special event, say for a wedding or prom, you can have the entire place to yourself.

Blo Blow Dry Bar is an interesting business concept but applicable in a lot of ways; for those on the go that don’t have the time before a special event, for travelers who are need of a salon look but are far away from their usual stylist, or for celebrations to mark a special occasion.
