A Novel Naptime: A Book Club for Parents while Kids Play

The Moline Public Library is offering a new book club program for parents with young children called A Novel Naptime. Parents will engage in a casual discussion about the novel and are encouraged to bring their kids along (preschool and under). Toys and activities will be available and everyone fully expects kids to be kids while parents talk around them. The event is hosted in the 2nd floor program room where they can close the door and allow the natural rustling and interruptions of youth to fill the space.

Becca Bacon from the Library explains, “We were looking for a way to include another demographic in our book groups and realized if we made children welcome, parents would be able to join. The idea was launched and so far the interest has been good! We’re very excited to start this book club as a way for parents to get together.”

Enjoy Favorite Children’s Books on Putnam’s GIANT Screen

My kids might not behave in the big theater…the book might not be that good as a movie..the “fun activity” might be too advanced or not advanced enough.

Well, let me tell you: the experience FAR exceeded my expectations!! What a fun visit! We can’t wait to attend more. Story Time on the GIANT Screen at the Putnam needs to go on your must do with toddlers and preschoolers list this year! Did I mention: It’s FREE?!

Quad Cities-style Pizza: Explained

As a Quad Cities transplant I didn’t grow up on Quad Cities-style pizza, but over the past 20 years I’ve become a big fan. As much as I love a good Chicago deep dish or a Brooklyn/New York wood-fired thin crust, there is nothing like a taco pizza from Harris Pizza when you’re craving the best!

What makes a pizza a Quad Cities-style pizza? The cut, the way it’s put together, the sauce, the crust, the sausage, and the kind.

Offering daily opportunities for healing, the organization meets women where they are and encourages them to accept the support they need. “Argrow’s House is also a bath and body business where women healing from violence and abuse create beautiful bath products that provide a living wage for themselves in a safe space that celebrates who they are.”
