“It was great to sit with a bunch of people with whom we knew we had something in common. We all loved dogs. We all loved beer.” It was a perfect place to meet some new friends,” says Rock Island resident Robb McCoy.
He and his wife, Sarah, took their Instafamous dog, Baxter (@baxtermac_kindof_a_big_deal) to Doggy Days in August and he loved meeting some of his fans and fellow four-legged friends.

The Rust Belt is a music venue located at 533 12th Avenue in East Moline, Illinois. It is a little off the beaten path, tucked away in an industrial area in an old car manufacturing plant. It is the newest addition to the Moeller Nights line up of venues where local talent buyer, Sean Moeller, books live shows.

Homebrew Festiv-Ale returns to the Quad Cities on Saturday, July 20, 2019. FestivAle is the only local beer festival that features over 50 home brewed beers.
This year’s Festiv-Ale from 2-6 pm at Wake Brewing in Rock Island, Illinois, features beers brewed by home brew clubs from all over the region. There will be a selection of beers from the local Quad Cities clubs: MUGZ, REFS, Powder Keggers, and Trade My Home Brew. There will also be home brew clubs from outside the area, including members of CRAZE from the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area as well as the Cedar Rapids Beer Society, who will have tents set up and will be pouring samples of their concoctions.

The Quad Cities welcomes back QC Beer Week in May! This year the local celebration will be Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17. Due the recent flooding, this year QC Beer Week is all about cities supporting cities, brewers supporting brewers. A portion of the sales of the week will be donated to the flood relief effort.
The Quad Cities is now home to 12 breweries, with a few more in the works. Because of this awesome amount of breweries, the week is highlighting a different city each day, encouraging the community to visit and support the breweries in each city, each night of the week.

The HOMEBREW FESTIV-ALE returns Saturday, July 14, and aims to be bigger and better than ever! I recently met up with Jason Parris, co-owner of Wake Brewing and event creator and coordinator, to get the details on this year’s festivities.
FESTIV-ALE is a great way to learn about homebrewing, meet those that have built and sustain the community that surrounds it, and to try what they love to make. There will be over 50 beers on tap to taste. Continue reading Homebrew Festiv-ALE 2018

The newest addition to the local brewing scene in the Quad Cities is coming up on its one-year anniversary. Baked Beer & Bread Co. is located in the Village of East Davenport, at 1113 Mound Street. With plans already for expansion, I sat down with their newly appointed Head Brewer Curt Johnson to find out what’s coming up for the establishment.

April 22 was the 2nd Annual Double Uncommon Release day at Bent River Brewing Co. in Rock Island, Illinois, and I was lucky enough to attend. Bent River is the biggest brewery in the Quad Cities with two locations: a brewpub in downtown Moline and their production facility in Rock Island, which gives them a distribution span of four states.
Uncommon Stout is one of the most popular beers made in the Quad Cities, rivaling macro-brewed lagers on draft locally and out selling many other six packs at the grocery and liquor stores. Because of this, it is only fitting that one of Bent River’s most successful events is centered on the brew.
