The Rock Island Gran Prix is happening August 31-September 1 in downtown Rock Island. Kart racing is where IndyCar, Formula 1 and some NASCAR drivers learn their race craft so you may be watching motorsports starts of the future racing through downtown city streets one inch off the ground at speeds up to 80 MPH. Event includes vendors, car show, nightly outdoor concerts and other activities downtown. Event features 16 feature races with practice and heat races Saturday and Finals on Sunday.
Labor Day Weekend in the Quad Cities is always filled with fun festivities, picnics, last minute pool splashes and (hopefully) great weather. But, of course, none of it would be complete without the annual parades in Rock Island and East Moline.
It’s the last hurrah of summer! What are your plans for Labor Day Weekend? We have some ideas for you.
Lace up your running shoes and hit the pavement. It’s time for the annual Quad Cities’ Marathon!
The race, which will be celebrating its 18th anniversary on Sunday this year, hosts over 10,000 runners, family members and volunteers every year. And all for a good cause, too. The marathon benefits both the prostate cancer research/screening and the Erika Kate Hope Alliance, which helps families of children with life threatening heart conditions.
