Timeless and perpetually popular, Dungeons and Dragons promotes storytelling and face to face game play. Starting September 4th, the Bettendorf Public Library will host Dungeons and Dragons games weekly on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5:30 PM at the Library located at 2950 Learning Campus Dr. in Bettendorf. Experience is not necessary. All of the tools of the game will be on hand to participate in the fun. In addition to Dungeon and Dragons the Library will host space for other types of tabletop roleplaying and card trading games.
Started in the mid-70s, Dungeons and Dragons has endured. In fact, some say it has never been more popular because of the proliferation of its exposure in social media and popular culture shows like Stranger Things and Big Bang Theory. The Library has experienced staff to lead different adventures each week and who are knowledgeable about other tabletop gaming. “Dungeons and Dragons gets people talking, experiencing and building new stories together,” says Young Adult Librarian John Gillette. “Experiencing new stories is part of what libraries are about and we are happy to offer this opportunity to our community.” No registration is required for these weekly, free events.
