The Quad Cities Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun, family environment. The funds raised will be used to support the fight against heart disease and stroke, which kill one in three Americans each year. The American Heart Association is currently investing more than $16 million into research and education projects in the state of Iowa as part of their goal to reduce deaths from heart disease and stroke by 20% while improving the lives of all Americans by 20% by the year 2020.

This year’s event will be held at Modern Woodmen Park, and walkers can choose between a 1 or 3.5 mile bi-state walk along the Mississippi River. The route follows the river along the Davenport bike paths, over the Arsenal Bridge, along the Rock Island bike paths, over to the Centennial Bridge and back to Modern Woodmen Park. Kids, strollers, and even pets are allowed at the event! There will be kid’s activities, as well as free Ferris Wheel Rides courtesy of the Sedona Group and Quad Cities River Bandits. Gates open at 8:00 am, opening ceremonies take place at 9:00 am, and the walk kicks-off at 9:30 am. Ferris wheel rides start right at 8:00 am, so be sure to arrive early so you don’t miss out!
