The RMPBB (Rodney Marsalis Philidelphia Big Brass) lead by a cousin of the famous Wynton Marsalis is performing Friday evening at the University of Dubuque featuring 3 local artists on trumpet. USMC retiree Steve Matera from Bettendorf is playing Taps as part of Rodney's tribute to Veterans in their show "Brothers on the Battlefield the Power of Love." Also local Moline trumpet players Jerry and Phyllis Miller will be playing Just a Closer Walk With Thee following a dramatic musical video about war and conflict in our nation. All 3 Quad Ciity trumpet artists, who are members of our Big River Brass Band, will join the Big Brass for their finale Stars And Stripes and finish with an authentic New Orleans style traditional Second Line. Matera and the Millers, all members of our local Big River Brass Band, will be part of a master class working with student musicians from Western Dubuque H.S.on on Thursday at 11:30. The master class is open to the public. The RMPBB concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday as part of the University of Dubuque Live at Heritage Center Performing Arts series.
