Floatzilla
River Action's Floatzilla is the Quad Cities 4th Annual Paddle Sports Celebration that culminates with a Guinness World Record attempt at the largest flotilla of kayaks and canoes on the protected backwaters of Lake Potter, Rock Island, IL.
The event draws local and out-of-state paddlers alike to discover Quad City Water Trails. From 2010 to 2012 the event has grown by several hundred participants. This year, River Action is looking for more paddlers, offering Kids Float Free for families!
Paddlers sign up for floats on the Mississippi River launch from Credit Island in Davenport, IA, Ben Butterworth Parkway in Moline, IL and at Lake Potter at Sunset Marina in Rock Island, IL. The record for the largest flotilla of canoes/kayaks will take place at 2pm in Lake Potter. The celebration at Sunset Marina includes food, music and trade show with local businesses and outfitters including Navvaro Canoe Company from Rock Island, IL.
Registration is $15 per paddler and includes a t-shirt, decal, free parking and a shuttle to and from off-site parking for “floats.” Late registration after August 1st is $20. T-shirts and decals are subject to availability.
