At the Smith Studio and Gallery, in downtown Geneseo, there is a special art exhibition of the oil paintings of Erik Ohrn. Erik is a young artist receiving newly found attention for his work in abstracting the human form. In 2006 Erik received a B.F.A. in painting from Southern Illinois University. Originally from the Quad Cities and now living in Joliet, Illinois, Erik has a fast expanding list of exhibition sites and solo showcases. In his young career Erik has won awards and recognition for his ethereal depictions of the human condition.
Erik writes: “Making art is about being present and acknowledging that anything can be key for the work to take an exciting shift in direction. Thoughts and feelings are constantly coming and going, swiftly slipping by and out of reach. I am driven to latch onto these fleeting moments with hopes to capture something meaningful.”
