Opening the Lenten Concert Series will be Bret Dale and the River Music Experience Traveling Band as they bring their unique twist on the blues to the series. Drawing his influences from the music of the Mississippi, Dale channels the music of the river through his voice and guitar. Enjoy his unique blend of roots music, blues, gospel and good old-fashioned rock and roll on February 21. http://rivermusicexperience.org
On February 28 we welcome the Rock Island High School Jazz band under the direction of award winning music teacher Peter Carlin. These talented high school musicians will bring a high-energy performance that will also offer tastes of classic jazz. Don’t miss it.
March 7th brings us the Rockridge High School Madrigal Singers and Show Choir. Rockridge High School has been the reigning IHSA Music Sweepstakes Champion for the past three years, and is on track to be crowned for a fourth. Directed by Rock Island native, Curtis Fisher-Oeschlager, this ensemble has performed all over Western Illinois to the delight of all of their audiences.
On March 14 look forward to the music of Rob Leveridge. Leveridge is a local pastor and musician whose style features music of a folk flavor with a taste of pop. He calls his craft “music for peacemaking and the common good.” Leveridge will bring a nice contrast to the Lenten Concert Series stage. https://robleveridge.wordpress.com
Scheduled for March 21st, the series welcomes American baritone, Craig Irvin. Irvin is a Des Moines based opera singer who performs all around the United States. Recent performances have been with the Utah Opera, the Minnesota Opera, Pensacola Opera and Nashville Opera. Opera News has hailed his “rich, resonant baritone” while the Dallas Morning News has celebrated his “truly commanding baritone”. We are delighted to have him grace our stage for the series. http://www.craigirvinbaritone.com
Wrapping up the season on March 28th are perennial favorites, jazzmen Edgar Crockett and David Holcomb. Edgar is a professor of music at Blackhawk College where he directs the jazz program, educating the next generation of jazz musicians. David is a retired Rock Island School District music teacher and local legend. These two always bring a smooth, elegant performance to the Lenten Concert Series.
