By age 9, I believed I could be Belle from Beauty in the Beast.
I practiced the songs in the mirror regularly and danced along with the characters in the movie. I had a Belle dress and plenty of toys – including Chip the teacup.
So imagine my delight when I learned that Belle (and the entire cast of Beauty and the Beast) are coming to the Adler Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 3.
For me, it was a chance for this (now adult) fangirl to relive the magic live on stage.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is based on the 1991 Academy Award-winning animated film and the Broadway musical has been seen by 35 million people in 22 countries!
This is is the story of Belle, a young woman in a poor provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress.
If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
The smash Broadway musical returns to the Quad Cities as part of the Broadway at the Adler.
Tickets ($42, $52 and $69.50) are on sale now at the Adler Theatre Box Office (136 E. 3rd St), Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000 or at Ticketmaster outlets.
Who else is going to the show in November? I’m brushing up on my dance moves in case they need an understudy. (Kidding.)
