I recently attended my first HavLife Martini Shake Off, held at the River Center in downtown Davenport on Thursday, February 16, 2017. It is one of the Quad Cities’ biggest fundraising events for a fantastic cause.
HavLife is a non-profit organization that supports children’s’ aspirations of being involved in a music or athletic program that may be too costly for families to cover.
This year’s lineup includes more than 30 restaurants, each offering their own “meal deals” between February 27 and March 5. Here are four restaurants that will be participating in Quad Cities Restaurant Week. Find out what deals will broaden your taste buds’ horizons.
There is no greater sight than the joy of a child as he or she is opened to a world of learning and endless possibilities. When I was a child, much of my learning came from PBS Kids, and I have seen so many of my preschool students do the same. What better way to celebrate the imagination, creativity and learning of childhood than host a whole day filled with where much of that imagination all began?
Living in Moline, Illinois, I remember as a teenager going to Katy’s Import Foods for brats for cookouts. You can’t miss the red and white striped building on 7th Street. Katy’s, open since 1938 in this location, has a been providing European foods to the area since the early 1950’s.
While the East Side of Davenport has seen a lot of growth over the past several years, the West Side is now following suit. There are many new establishments that have opened up over the past few months, offering new options and wide range of places to have a meal.
