In the West End of Davenport, on the corner of 3rd and Pine Streets, is a small little business named GruBeez. It’s an eatery that has been in operation for a little over 3 years now and is a hidden gem in the Quad Cities.

With an abundance of shopping choices for the holidays, I was happy to be able to find many gifts at one of my favorite locally owned stores, WaterMark Corners. Owned by mother-daughter team, Barbara and Amy Trimble, WaterMark Corners is a specialty gift and stationery store. The store is in three historic buildings on the John Deere Commons across from the John Deere Pavilion in downtown Moline, Illinois. It is always a pleasure to shop in the beautiful surroundings.
The Adler Theatre was full of Harry Potter fans and symphony aficionados on Saturday for the Quad City Symphony Orchestra‘s live performance accompanying the entire film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
It was fabulous and amazing and delightful. As 10-year-old Anora put it: “I don’t know if I can ever watch the movie without thinking about this experience!” Her 8-year-old brother was even more impressed, “This was a life changer!”
Designer Carolina Herrera, once said, “A wedding dress is both an intimate and personal for a woman – it must reflect the personality and style of the bride.” Along with the love, care, and passion that is reflected in your relationship, a wedding dress also needs to reflect the nature of the bride as an individual. As a bride, you have a dream of what that dress will be, and the realistic budget that must come with it. Now as a bride-to-be myself, I can attest to how true this is — a dream dress and a budget aren’t always the easiest pair to find…. Or are they?
Small Business Saturday (Nov. 25, 2017) encourages people to support small, local businesses as you go about your holiday shopping. These businesses don’t have the millions of dollars to run national ad campaigns encouraging you to be there at 4 a.m. for an electronic gadget. And maybe you do need a specific electronic gadget this year, but don’t forget small businesses have some really great stuff too!
Here are some places in the Quad Cities to shop that our bloggers have recently covered so check out the links for more details on each place!
Imagination, creativity and expression are key elements in letting a child grow and prosper in life. Literacy is an essential building block in life that can easily incorporate those expressive components important to childhood. We’ve incorporated these important ideas into early childhood classrooms, playgrounds and activities — which often transfers into the homes – but beyond those two places, exploration for young children can be limited.
Bettendorf Public Library (BPL) has made it their mission to ensure that even in the world outside the classroom–the home or the playground–a child can continue to explore, create, dream, grow and prosper through their Child’s Play: Create, Explore and Experience program.
WAKE Brewing opened for business on Saturday. This has been a long time coming and has many people in the Quad Cities craft beer community very excited. I had to opportunity to get a sneak peak of the new place and sit down with the owners to hear all about our community’s next brewery.
These places are open for Thanksgiving dinner so you don’t have to cook on Thursday, November 23, 2017!
