Oodles Of Noodles & Breads Galore at Miss Effie’s!

Just a short drive from the Quad Cities in Donahue, Iowa, is the most charming little eclectic flower farm business. Miss Effie’s Country Flowers has been in business since 2001. Lovingly run by Cathy and her husband, “Honey”, this farm on a hill invites you to return again and again. This time I returned for noodle and bread making classes.

I knew that you could pick fresh flowers at Miss Effie’s but classes are a new addition and such a wonderful experience. I learned on Facebook that Miss Effie’s was offering bread making and noodle making classes in her country kitchen. How could I resist? So I contacted friends and we took both the bread making and the noodle making classes.

Oodles of noodles!

Being a renaissance woman and an educator, Cathy can do just about anything. So I was not surprised by the wonder of her classes. The moment we drove up the hill we were greeted by her guard cats. (My favorite is Bernie, named after Mr. Sanders! ) They will purr you to death!

Noodles please!

Breads made from one simple recipe!

The classes include a meal after the class is finished. And this is not just any meal, it is homemade with a beautiful table setting. Miss Effie, you are a marvel!
