Once the spring cold broke, many of us couldn’t wait for the warmth of the summer sun. But when those days hit the unbearable 90-100 degree mark, and the only option seems to sit inside in the air-conditioned bliss of your home, break out the pool gear and look over the list of local water parks to cool-off in the heat.
Helium Trampoline Park in Eldridge, Iowa, definitely lives up to its tagline of Iowa’s FUN park. We went with a dozen 7-year-olds for a birthday party and it was definitely tons of FUN!
- Dozens and dozens of rectangular trampolines.
- Trampolines with basketball hoops (my husband was very proud of his 5’10” dunking abilities)
- 2 dodgeball areas that were trampoline courts
- A 2 height ledge-fall onto a giant cushy pillow area
- Jousting over trampolines
Going through winter and the back/forth in temperatures before spring finally decides to stay, it’s important to remember the beauty on the other side of winter when we’re feeling that the snowfall and cold temperatures will never end. ComedySportz Quad Cities is a fun evening for the whole family (well, maybe not the babies, but most everyone else). Two teams of comedians square off in a competition of funny. The blue team and the red team compete in a variety of improv games with the audience judging the funniest team in each round. At the end of all the rounds they tally the points and the best team wins! Additional humor is added by the referee, “Mr. Voice” from the sound booth, and hilarious memes and gifs on the big screen.
We LOVE PBS shows in our house of 4 boys ages 1-9 yrs. from old favorites like Cat in the Hat to new friends like Jet Propulsion. There’s no better way to have fun with our favorite KIDS show characters than Imagination Station presented by WQPT Quad Cities PBS.
There are few things more hilarious than the beloved comedic writing of the late Dr. Seuss. From our first exposure to stories as an infant to laughing hysterically at the charm that the stories provide in our first early reading steps to a smile of reminiscence at the silly-yet-poetic rhymes of Dr. Seuss fill all of us with a sense of child-like splendor.

Augustana College’s John Deere Planetarium hosts its annual holiday show “Season of Light”. Have you ever wondered how the night sky has influenced holiday traditions? Was it astrologically possible for the Star of Bethlehem to shine all day and night? What might the movement of stars and other historical astrology tell us about what took place years ago?
