Niabi Zoo set to open April 14th

Going through winter and the back/forth in temperatures before spring finally decides to stay, it’s important to remember the beauty on the other side of winter when we’re feeling that the snowfall and cold temperatures will never end. Think of the sunshine and outdoor adventures. Think of taking the ones you love, your favorite kiddos, or just yourself on an adventure to the local zoo.

Art Outdoors – Self-Guided Tour of Public Sculpture

When the leaves start to turn and the weather gets cooler, it is a good time to get in your car or jump on your bike and visit various sculptures located across the Quad Cities. I take advantage of the weekly adult clay studio on Monday nights at the Bettendorf Family Museum so I often enjoy the sculptures at Faye’s Field which is just south of the museum.

Quad City Arts, a local nonprofit arts organization, has done a wonderful job of introducing public art to the area through the Public Sculpture Program. Quad City Arts has been coordinating the process of bringing outdoor sculpture to the area for 14 years. Their public sculpture program “allows cities, organizations, or businesses to have the opportunity to lease sculptures for a one-year period. All sculptures are for sale.” The 2017-2018 sculptures are located in Rock Island and Bettendorf.

Cocoa Beano Race: Running for Chocolate and giving back to children

I’m a woman who thrives for days on chocolate, a little bit of coffee, de-stressing, and running. It is the perfect balance to creating a healthy lifestyle balanced with some moderation. Rediscover Longview Park in Rock Island

We headed to Rock Island’s Longview Park this weekend – a favorite of ours going back to when my husband and I had our first date together playing disc golf – and confirmed, yet again, why this is one of our very favorite Quad Cities parks.
