As someone who does not have a lot of experience with Indian food, I asked friends what they recommend we try. I have a family of six with four kids under 12.

Curry-Out is very popular with my friends and lots of people offered great advice and recommendations.

Korma and tikka masala are safe bets for families. Saag is good but beware it has spinach in it in case you don’t have spinach eaters. The veggie samosas are spicy but so good. Kids will love gulab jamun dessert. We can usually get two meals out of one order. - Amanda B.

Curry-Out is one of our favorite Rock Island take-out spots. The food is delicious and it’s always fast. The korma is our favorite. If we order it mild, the kids love it too, along with the warm naan (bread). They devour it. In general we get 3 dishes for our family 5. - Rachel G.

Samosas, naan, tikka masala. And gulab jamun for dessert. It’s all so good! - Allison B.

Lamb vindaloo & chicken Tikka masala are our faves! We also like their okra dish. Their naan is also awesome! - Becky C.

The malabari with chicken is so good! Every time my parents come to visit from Chicago, they offer to pick up Curry-Out on their way in to town! I’m also appreciative as a neighboring business to see the building with a friendly owner, and that they have already started fixing up the property with their new pavement. - Annette H., owner of Cool Beanz Coffee House

Oh man - everything is sooooo good! Chicken tikka masala and the naan bread are a MUST! - Johanna D.

We all like the cauliflower pakoras. The samosas are a little spicy but delicious. Jermaine likes the chicken tikka masala. I like the biryanis - chicken, shrimp - whatever. Also, Jaspreet and his staff are very friendly and will answer you questions. - Tara A.

It’s all good! The malabari chicken is the dish that helped convince our 12-year-old Olivia to like Indian food. - Lisa S.

While I haven’t been to Curry-Out, when I was in Chennai these were my go-to options for lunch: aloo gobi, biryani (vegetable), and chana masala. Try those! Joe T.

Definitely get some vegetarian options. Palak paneer (stewed spinach with cheese) is a favorite. Get some raita on the side to cool off (spice-wise) whatever you’re eating. I hope you talk to the owners too! They have a great history in the QC. Don’t forget a mango lassi for everyone to drink. It’s like a smoothie but with larger proportion of dairy - yogurt, I believe. So. delicious. I always get two just for me! - Kelly T.

I also get one (mango lassi) and add rum! - Heather M.

I love the tikka masala with either chicken or veggies, but the potato samosas are the very best thing ever! They are spicy, so might not be great for the boys, so you probably don’t need more than one order. They come two to an order and are large. The naan is fabulous and you’ll want a couple orders if your boys are bread lovers. They’re basically yummier fluffy tortillas. My absolute only complaint is that I can’t order 24/7. So good! - Brandy V.

The joy of Indian food is getting a lot of variety; similar to different Asian & Middle-Eastern cuisines, it's about having lots of little servings of many dishes. It's a bit more expensive, and there's plenty of leftovers afterwards, but we usually order the following for our family of 5:
1-2 servings of mulligatawny soup, 1 order of potato samosas, 1 order of cheese pakoras & 1 order of cauliflower pakoras. Aloo gobi, malai kofta & traditional curry—all vegetarian with medium spicy level (which is pretty spicy; we like spice in our household). Throw in an order of naan & an extra order of stuffed garlic naan & you're good to go. It's a delightful feast! - Dylan P.

Chicken tikka masala, palak paneer are favs in our house. Oh- and don’t pass up on fish versions of any curry. My family makes fish curry all the time in India. Get some garlic naan - Sangeetha R.

They are really good about nut allergies as long as you specify what item needs to be nut free. My husband and daughter get chicken tikka masala and I always get saag paneer (cheese in spinach: my fave!). It’s pretty spicy compared to other shops, so I always get mild there for me, medium for my husband. Plain naan as a side and there are always leftovers for lunch the next day. We like the veggie samosas too. - Dara W.

Butter chicken is always a win with our kids. If they have lassis, get a couple and split them - delicious. Lots of naan - order more than you think is necessary. Ditto to a mild paneer, like saag. Love samosas. Indian desserts are typically sooo yummy because of the use of honey and cardamom. - Katie P.

Ohhhh we love them! Malai Kafta is THE BEST! also the pakoras! Yummy! -Nicole D.

We love saag paneer and baingan bharta, an eggplant curry that you eat with rice and naan. You can’t go wrong with tandoori chicken either. - Susan D.

Tandoori chicken and any of the karahi. For those not sure about curry, we got the basmati rice dish with shrimp and it's similar to fried rice. - Jessica W.

The proof is in the picture. We dug right in and loved every last drop of Curry Out. Garlic stuffed naan, chicken tikka masala and chicken vindaloo. Raita for dipping. We did spice level hot and it wasn’t too hot for my husband and me. - Tracy L.
