Floatzilla

The largest gathering of kayaks and canoes on the Mississippi River.  Floatzilla supports River Action’s efforts to restore habitat, renovate infrastructure, and foster citizen action to improve water quality in the Mississippi River watershed. All participants will receive a mesh bag for picking up plastic and trash in the river. "While paddling downstream, let’s keep the river clean."

The event strives to break the Guinness World Record for the largest float of canoes and kayaks.  A photo to document the effort will be taken at 2 p.m., Lake Potter, Rock Island.

Launch from seven different sites; the longest is an 11 mile paddle which locks through at Lock and Dam 15.

The entire stretch of river  from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is without barges or moror vessels; 26 safety vessels patrol the paddle.
