Silvis Library and Illinois Libraries Present A Conversation with James McBride WATCH PARTY with Pee Wees Gumbo

Registration required, begins Jan 14.

We will be holding a watch party in the library for the ILP’s conversation with author James McBride. Plus, we’ll be having gumbo from a favorite Quad Cities restaurant, Pee Wee’s! Don’t miss this great event!

James is an award-winning author, musician, and screenwriter. His landmark memoir, The Color of Water, has sold millions of copies and spent more than two years on the New York Times bestseller list and is considered an American classic. A noted musician and composer, McBride has toured as a saxophonist sideman with jazz legend Jimmy Scott, among other musicians. In 2015, he was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Obama “for humanizing the complexities of discussing race in America.” His book The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store has been named a Must Read for the Summer by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Time, AARP, Town & Country, St. Louis Post-Dispatch. This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present, a statewide collaboration among public libraries offering premier events.
