Statement for 2027 MVC Women’s Basketball Championship

June 18, 2026

Quad Cities, IL/IA (June 18, 2026) - The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) has made the decision not to move forward with hosting the 2027 MVC Women’s Basketball Championship in the Quad Cities. While Visit Quad Cities has consistently looked forward to hosting this championship event as part of a multi-year, multi-community rotation, it is recognized that there are challenges and dynamics faced, per the MVC, due to the ever-evolving realities of NCAA post-season collegiate basketball. This decision is not a reflection on Vibrant Arena, the Quad Cities community, or the strong and valued partnership that exists between our organizations. Since first hosting the MVC Women’s Basketball Championship in 2016, the Quad Cities has proudly delivered a world-class experience for student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and fans. That success has been made possible through the collaboration of our hospitality industry, community partners, Board of Directors, volunteers, and professional staff, all of whom continue to showcase the Quad Cities as a welcoming and leading host destination for sporting events.

“It has been an honor to partner with the Missouri Valley Conference on one of its premier championship events,” said Joan Kranovich, Vice President of Business Growth & Director, Sports QC. “We value the relationships we have built over the years and look forward to continuing our partnership through future opportunities, including the 2027 Women’s Golf Championship at TPC Deere Run. Sports QC is committed to supporting female athletics and is constantly in pursuit of high-level events. We would welcome the chance to host this championship again in the future.”

Sports QC Powered by Visit Quad Cities remains committed to attracting high-quality competitions that generate economic impact and showcase the Quad Cities. The partnership between Visit Quad Cities and Vibrant Arena remains strong. Together, the organizations will continue working to program the arena and its conference center with opportunities that drive value for the Quad Cities visitor economy.
