Explore The Village of Hampton, Illinois
Visit Illiniwek Forest Preserve for hiking, biking, camping, and to see the Nature Spiral by artist Kunhild Blacklock, part of a RiverWay project by Quad City Arts and RiverAction. Boulders sandblasted with animals, plants, and insects are arranged in a spiral to honor the river’s natural resources. Head north to Fisherman’s Corner Recreation Area for more camping, boat access, and bald eagle watching, especially near Lock & Dam 14.
Bike or walk the Great River Trail, which passes through Hampton, or stop at Heritage Park to see the riverside pavilion, playground, and the hand-carved Ginkgo Tree sculpture.
Learn about the area's history at the Hampton Heritage Interpretive Center and the Brettun & Black Mercantile Store Museum, a restored 1849 general store listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Grab a burger or steak at The Logger House, known for its cozy log cabin feel, pool table, craft beers, and unique chandelier. In the fall, visit Stone’s Apple Barn for apples, cider, and gifts, and don't miss the Historical Society’s Annual Apple Festival or the Firefighters’ annual chili suppers and pancake breakfasts.
