Ride the Channel Cat

The Channel Cat Water Taxi takes pedestrians around the Quad Cities across the Mississippi River on open-air boats. It’s a leisurely way to enjoy the river as it uniquely flows east to west through our region. Bicyclists and their bikes are welcome on board the Channel Cat.

The Cat has been recognized as a “Locals Love Us” winner and was showcased by National Geographic and the Mississippi River Geotourism Stewardship Council as one of the best destinations for travelers seeking an authentic experience of the region. The taxis operate seven days a week, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, then weekends only through October (weather permitting). All-day tickets allow passengers to get on an off as they like to enjoy the 4 stops on both the Iowa and Illinois side of the Mississippi. Hop aboard in Davenport, Bettendorf or Moline.

Take a river cruise

The Quad Cities is home to two cruise lines, Celebration River Cruises and Riverboat Twilight. The Celebration Belle and the TWILIGHT riverboats each provide tours offering beautiful views of our region along the Mississippi River. From shorter brunch or lunch cruises to overnight options and special events, passengers will relish in the unique experiences of life and leisure on the river.

Cross the I-74 Bridge pedestrian pathway

Connecting the states of Iowa and Illinois, the I-74 Bridge serves as a primary crossing of the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities area and is an important east-west link in the nation's transportation network. The bike and pedestrian path is an exciting feature within this interstate bridge. Fully separated from traffic and ADA accessible, the path provides a safe way for people to cross the Mississippi River. At 14 feet wide, there is ample room for bikes and pedestrians to travel in either direction. The path also connects to existing trails on both sides of the river.

A scenic overlook with a glass oculus provides the public with a unique view of the Mississippi River. The 10-foot diameter oculus is made of thick, tempered glass that is safe to stand on, and the surface is textured to provide better traction.
