Explore LeClaire, Iowa

The beautiful riverfront town of LeClaire is full of history, unique shopping, river excursions, fun special events, and unbelievable flavors. Recognized as one of the best Main Streets in Iowa, LeClaire is the birthplace of “Buffalo Bill” Cody. Learn the story of one of America’s most recognizable figures from the Old West as you explore the museum in his name. A few of the most famous Quad Citizens are Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, stars of the hit TV show American Pickers on The History Channel. The Pickers Movement started right here in the QC and you can see it first-hand and purchase your own piece of salvaged history at Antique Archaeology.

With an easily walkable downtown, enjoy local shops and businesses by foot. LeClaire’s Libation Lane is the perfect spot for a wine tasting, craft beer, or locally made spirits mixed into a must-have cocktail. Find delicious bites, fine dining, ethnic foods, and sweet treats on river view patios.  After strolling this charming main street, board a river cruise for an afternoon on the water with a fresh daiquiri in hand.

Notable festivals and events in LeClaire include the Great River Tug Fest across the Mississippi River, Apple Fest, Wine Hops, and First Fridays each month, to name a few.

Celebrate the first Friday of the month at the Mississippi River Distilling Company. Begin with a free tour where you’ll learn about their locally-focused distilling process from the distillers themselves. After the tour, grab a pitcher of Mississippi Mules from the Cody Road Cocktail House to share with friends as you take in live music and river views on the patio. The Faithful Pilot, Crane & Pelican Café, and the river view at Steventon’s are a LeClaire must.
