Craft Cocktails at Cru

Cru in downtown Davenport, Iowa, with its “casual social club” atmosphere, presented an understated and sophisticated ambiance. Our visitors from Chicago and Cincinnati found it to be a fascinating experience.
The interior of Cru was casual but elegant with high ceilings covered in vintage tin ceiling tiles. The walls were bar to ceiling height shelves full of various wine, craft beer and liquor. There were intimate tables and a long brushed stainless steel bar.

The theatre of the drink making was half the fun. After watching other drinks being made, we decided to try the Bees Knees, the Manfashion, and the Mojito. The mixologist made delicious drinks in an artful manner as we watched at the bar. No pre-made mixes were used. Using only hand-squeezed juices and other fresh ingredients every drink was hand-crafted to our specifications. The Manfashion included a smokey addition that was worth a standing ovation.

RAW, another downtown business, partnered with Cru to add appetizers to the mix.
It's all in the name. Cru is “a french wine term given to products of certified excellence.” We agreed that the Cru experience was both excellent and interesting.
