Fun Local Activities to Do Online for All Ages
Our local attractions, galleries, and more have been upping their online game as we all stay home to flatten the curve and mitigate the COVID-19 impact. The beautiful thing is that even if you miss the live event, you can watch it later. Here are some places to check out:
Ballet Quad Cities - “Dance Me a Story” began as an interactive, in-person experience of using movement and music to create dance versions of familiar tales. Ballet Quad Cities is expanding it into a virtual format, with five new videos to come. In each 10- to 15-minute video, participants see and hear the story read aloud. They get to dance along, learning and creating their own choreography to music that captures the characters, action, and emotions in the story. Visit their website and Facebook page for more performances.
Putnam Museum and Science Center - They are showing experiments to do at home from the Virtual Science Lab. Take a virtual tour of their new exhibit Liberated Voices/Changing Lives about the suffrage movement. (They are planning future virtual tours.) We are living through a history-making moment right now. The Putnam is asking us to document this time to share with generations to come.
River Music Experience - On their Facebook page, they are having Music Lab (mainly for kids…but adults are welcome to watch too) each weekday morning at 10 a.m. You can also watch Solitary Sessions featuring performances by our talented local musicians.
