Honoring Your Mental Wellness this January

January is Mental Wellness Month and we have just what you need to practice self care right here in the Quad Cities. 

 

Start your day off by relaxing with Yoga:

You can visit any of these spots to get started and take one step forward in your mental wellness journey.

  • Visit Tapas Yoga at 919 40th Ave, Bettendorf, IA. Tapas is more than movement but it’s a thriving, down-to-earth community where everyone, from first-timers to seasoned practitioners, comes to move, breathe, and grow together.
  • Drink AND move while you visit Bends & Brews, located at various Quad City brewery spots throughout the year. This event is a combination of beer and yoga, with classes leveling from beginner to advanced. 
  • Choose from 10 different sessions that meet your needs with One Tree Hot Yoga located at 2660 E 53rd St, Davenport, IA. 
  • My Crystal Portal you can engag in Qigong Energy Balancing, a meditative practice that focuses on breathing, blockage dissolves, energy center aligning, and a profound sense of calm and clarity. You can find them at 1737 Grant St, Bettendorf, IA.

 

Reduce your screen time, visit a local bookstore:

  • At N. Harrison St, Davenport, IA, The Brewed Book - Coffee Shop & Used Book Store, awaits you. Here, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a sweet pastry while you indulge yourself in new stories, engage in board games with friends, or simply relax in the warm, friendly atmosphere. 
  • The Atlas Collective is not only just a bookstore but a coffee shop as well. You can wander, read, sip on coffee, or just hang out when you visit the Atlas Collective located at 1801 5th Ave, Moline, IL. 

                                            

 

Try new things! Perhaps a new hobby?:

  • Join “Create! Quad Cities” as they host Paint Nite events each week. Paint Nite is hosted in various taprooms, coffee shops, and other locations in the Quad Cities, there is even an occassional virtual option. View their events calender for more informaion.
  • You can enjoy taking up knitting or crocheting by visiting Bev's Yarn Barn at 323 18th St, Rock Island, IL. At Bev's, you can find affordable yarn or fiber supplies, a creative space to sit, stitch, and connect, and workshops/ classes to help crafters grow in their skills. If you find none of these appealing, focus on getting some fresh air instead:

  • The Quad Cities is full of trails that you can bike, hike, or paddle on. The best way to see amazing views and get that fresh air we all so deeply need, is by taking a stroll on one of our local trails. You can find the best fit for you by looking at our trail systems on our website.
