Marie in the QC

She's a little bit country. She's a little bit rock and roll. And she's a little bit show tunes and she's a little bit Opera. A little bit of all things unexpected sums up Marie Osmond.  An entertainer for six decades, our community is fortunate to have her returning to the Quad Cities for a show at Rhythm City Casino Resort on Friday, February 24th at 8:00 p.m.

Marie’s career covers more than half a century from her debut on the Andy Williams show at age 3, to her Grammy nominated debut single, Paper Roses, at age 13 to the mid-1970s The Donny and Marie Show to country duets including the Grammy nominated duet Meet Me in Montana to turns on Broadway in The Sound of Music and The King and I to reuniting with Donny for a 1990s talk show and their long-running Vegas show in the 2000s to her recent Billboard hit album, Unexpected, that showcases her operatic vocal range.

Not only is Marie the consummate professional performer, she chronicles her life struggles and joys which she also writes about in her hope-filled, weekly Sunday messages. She also is committed to providing support for families as one of the founders of the Children’s Miracle Network.

Prior to learning of her concert date in Davenport, my husband gave me tickets to her Christmas concert in Sheboygan, WI.  An “unexpected” surprise was winning VIP Soundcheck passes.  In the Q and A time during this session, she chatted as if she was a girl friend, albeit an infamously talented one. I asked her about what her Davenport show would feature as I am from the Quad Cities.  No unexpected surprise here.  She shared it would be a show full of the wide array of music genres that she’s performed.

Her repertoire includes the song Am I the Same Girl. Is she the same girl we used to know from our Friday nights spent watching the Donny and Marie Show? Or is she the same girl we knew who performed at the Silvis Country Music Fest in the late 1980s?  Get a ticket and join us for the fun this coming Friday night of seeing Marie Osmond in concert right here in our hometown.
