Hockey has been a Quad Cities tradition for over 25 years.
Starting with the Quad City Mallards (fans voted on the name) in 1995, the arena hosted the QC hockey team. They won the Colonial Cub championship in 1997, 1998, and 2001. In 2007, the QC hockey team announced they would be the new Quad-City Flames Calgary’s Triple-A affiliate in the American Hockey League. In 2009 that team moved to British Columbia, and the new QC Mallards team was announced. In 2018, when the QC Mallards ceased operating, the QC team became the Quad City Storm (fans voted on this name, too).

Quad Citizens love rooting for the Quad City Storm
“We are always looking for fun activities to do as a family. One thing we enjoy doing is going to different sporting events. Even when we are on a vacation, we find ourselves going to a game in that city just for fun. We were excited when friends invited us to join them at a QC Storm game, but we weren’t sure the kids would really enjoy it because hockey isn’t a sport we typically watch. Well, we couldn’t have been more wrong. From the moment we walked in, we felt the power of the entertaining music and energized crowd. We enjoyed the fun games for the crowd to watch and participate in between periods. Our favorite was the Chuck-a-puck. The kids also liked the video games in the concession area. We will definitely go to more QC Storm games because we ALL had fun… young and old!!” - Lindsey Munson

“Our whole family had a great time at the QC Storm game. I was there to accept a check on behalf of Family Resources. The generosity of this community is often overwhelming, and the QC Storm donated $6 from every ticket to Family Resources. We stayed after the announcement and cheered on the Storm. Our kids loved the events during periods and Radar, the mascot. And, of course, the concession food and drinks were enjoyed by all!” - Nicole Durbin

“When our kids were toddlers and preschoolers, Storm games (or Mallards games) were all about the snacks and ringing cowbells, and it was fantastic (until they were ringing the cowbells in the car on the way home!). We have such great memories from those years!  But what has been really fun to watch is how they have grown to love so many other parts of attending Storm games as they have gotten older.  Snacks and cowbells are still integral parts of the experience, but now they want to go with friends, wear oversized hockey jerseys, watch the game, bang on the glass, and sometimes even dance when the music comes on.  They come home excited about the giveaways (mini hockey sticks are their favorites!) and prizes they have won from the prize spinner.  The Storm has provided us with so many fun nights, and we look forward to many more! - Cheri Clark
