Quad Citizen to Know: Lexi Doxsee
The Quad Cities is filled with people who give their time and talent to make our region stronger, and Lexi Doxsee is a shining example of that spirit in action. As Communications and Event Manager at the Cancer Support Community of Iowa & NW Illinois at Gilda’s Club, she has built a career around compassion, creativity, and the belief that no one should face cancer alone.
From the beginning, Lexi’s journey has been shaped by her drive to uplift others. A graduate of Western Illinois University, she says her mission-driven work found her while she served as an intern with the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. That early spark grew into roles with Christian Care and eventually led her to her role as a resource and champion for those impacted by cancer.
Her role at Cancer Support Community allows her to combine strategic communication with human connection—whether it’s ensuring someone finds a wig after treatment, helping a single parent access meals, or creating space for families to heal together.
Lexi is also an innovator. She is a driving force behind the organization’s inaugural Mississippi Dragon Boat Festival, a fundraiser that blends ancient tradition with community spirit. Lexi explained that the fundraiser was an added way to provide for a growing need of support for those battling cancer and their loved ones.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lexi is deeply rooted in the Quad Cities. After spending time away, she and her husband returned to the region to build their life surrounded by family, familiar faces, and the unmistakable sense of community that defines this area.
With her vision, compassion, and determination, Lexi is more than a nonprofit professional, but a rising star and a reminder of how one person’s efforts can inspire a region. The Quad Cities is stronger because of leaders like her.
