Top 10 Highlights of 2022 in the Quad Cities

The Quad Cities is a community that’s constantly improving, changing and moving toward the future. In 2022, we celebrated countless milestones and developments.

  • Backwater Gamblers water ski team reclaims championship title in the Central Regional Tournament, last won in 2013, and places 7th in National Tournament 
  • Mercado on Fifth presents first Dia de los Muertos Parade through downtown Moline in October
  • The Quad Cities region receives more than $34.8 million in grants that support tourism, invest in destination assets, and add overall value to the region:

    • Arts Alley in Rock Island - $267,181  
    • Downtown revitalization in East Moline - $23.7 million 
    • MLK Park in Davenport - $218,840

    • The Last Picture House in Davenport - $600,000 
  • The City of Moline honors its 150th birthday with a weeklong sesquicentennial celebration 
  • TBK Bank Sports Complex announces and breaks ground on multimillion-dollar expansion to include three-story golf facility, fields for soccer and baseball, additional restaurants, shopping and more 
  • The I-74 Bridge’s Pedestrian Pathway officially opens, connecting people between Bettendorf and Moline in a new way 
  • Viking Cruises makes its maiden voyage to the Quad Cities 
  • The QC Public Art Trail launches, via a partnership of Visit Quad Cities and Quad City Arts, guiding art lovers along a path of artworks available in and around the Quad Cities region 
  • The TBK Bank Quad Cities Marathon turns 25; leaders celebrated this quarter-century milestone by unveiling a new logo and route for participants 
  • Reimagined Union Station Destination Center opens in Davenport
