Top 6 for Thanksgiving Weekend 2021
With the long holiday weekend, there's a lot to do in the Quad Cities whether you're ready for some outdoor exercise, retail therapy, or holiday decorating inspiration. Here are your top six activities for Thanksgiving weekend.
1. Going the Distance in the McCarthy Bush YMCA Turkey Trot
Have you gotten into running during the pandemic? Put your newfound passion into good use on Thanksgiving morning and go for a run with all of the other turkeys in downtown Davenport. It starts at the new Bittner YMCA on East 4th Street in Davenport. The 200-yard, 400-yd and 1-mile events begin at 8:30 a.m. The 5K and 5-mile events take off at 9 a.m.
2. Admiring Everything at Kwik Star Festival of Trees
The turkey is part of the leftovers which means it’s time to completely turn to Christmas and enjoy Festival of Trees. Bring your family to this Quad Cities holiday tradition and the largest fundraiser for Quad City Arts. Festival of Trees transforms the 30,000 square foot RiverCenter into a winter wonderland featuring designer displays, interactive family activities, shopping, and more. On Saturday night is the fun Silent Disco. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Festival of Trees has gone cashless this year.
3. Winter Wonderland at Circa
Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse is treating family audiences to a yuletide musical revue, Winter Wonderland. This festive show will charm audiences with its magical blend of laughs, sentiment and beloved songs from the past, and it’s being brought to life by a marvelous team of professional talents.
4. Shop at the Christmas Arts and Craft Fair
Are you a regular Etsy shopper? Go shopping at the QCCA Expo Center for three days to find all your holiday arts and crafts finds. It’s the largest handicraft fair in the area.
5. Hockey Games with the Quad City Storm
The Quad City Storm are sweeping away their opponents. You have two opportunities to watch them this weekend. Friday night is against the Peoria Rivermen and Saturday brings the return of $1 beers. Both matches are at 7 pm.
6. Julmarknad
Julmarknad is the annual Christmas Market in Bishop Hill. The attractions include Swedish folk characters, traditional Swedish holiday decorations, holiday music, a storytelling Santa, craft activities, and Christmas gifts for sale. All of the shops, museums, and restaurants will be open to satisfy your holiday needs.
