Cavort: Simply Delicious

“This is delicious.”

We all kept saying it over and over again as our group of five enjoyed a night out at Cavort restaurant in Davenport, IA. From the appetizers to the entrees to the drinks, you will not be disappointed in the flavors when dining at Cavort: Libations & Bites.

The ambiance was comfortable, fun, and classy all at the same time. Well-trained waitstaff are dressed in cheery hawaiian style tops and brimming with information about the specials. There are two “selfie” walls for fun photo opportunities. The lights were dim and fun music played in the background.

Seating is varied with some lovely semi-secluded window seating, draped to provide some privacy, an array of tables, and a bar area. It’s a fairly small establishment, so if you’re coming with a larger group you’ll want to call ahead for reservations.

“Cavort was such a fun hidden gem in downtown Davenport! Great food to share, awesome drinks and a fun atmosphere.” - Kari

The food was, indeed, delicious. We started with appetizers including a Mandu wonton special and Tuna Poké Bowl. The flavors were fresh and memorable. I especially liked the avocado and mango combination in the tuna bowl.

“My favorite was the Mandu appetizer with fancy potstickers. I could eat that every night. The soup the wontons were in was delicious.” - Terry

For dinner, our party of five decided to get entrees and share them all. This was an AMAZING plan and I’d highly recommend it if you go. The server was fantastic and brought us each large appetizer plates to accommodate our efforts. We ordered Yucatán Pork Nachos, No Coast Pasta, Polenta de Pua (pork), Chilaquilles (chicken), and the fresh fish feature: Chilean Salmon. We’ve also heard the Oysters on the Half Shell are fantastic and also the Mac & Cheese is uniquely scrumptious.

We ate every bite. Okay, except for the radish garnish. Besides that though, we devoured our entrees. I really enjoyed that we weren’t eating the same flavors I could taste at any restaurant. Because of their “fairly intimate space in size, Cavort focuses on offering high quality food and drinks in a fun atmosphere,” explains Alex the staff member we asked for suggestions. They definitely delivered high quality food.

“The Poké bowl was my favorite! It was so yummy. The flavors were outstanding. The wontons that came with it were so so good. For our entrees, the best part was that each one was really fantastic. Usually when we share meals, there’s always one that’s extra good and, then, one that’s not that great. This wasn’t the case at all at Cavort. Each meal was full of flavor and not only tasty but interesting to eat.” - Nicole

The drinks were also great! The guys each had beer and the ladies tried one of the “libations” which were served in unique glasses, with accoutrements tailored to each drink. We definitely enjoyed trying the unique house cocktails.

“I normally don’t get mixed drinks but I tried the Manhattan Royale. I’m SO glad I did. I would go back just for the drink.” - Nicole.

One other note: the service was really good. We were both left alone enough to enjoy our meal, but attended to as needed. From a friendly welcome to larger sharing plates to extra napkins to drink refills, the staff and our server, Allana, provided fantastic service!

Cavort offers specials certain weekdays such as housemade taquitos and half price wine. You’ll definitely want to check out the options. Follow CavortQC social media to see them all. Also, Cavort recently started hosting private events on Sunday evenings. Definitely consider this unique…and delicious…location for your next dinner or get together.
