WWII was a global conflict that forever altered society and touched the lives of people around the world, including right here in Iowa.  2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII.  With this exhibit, “Valor & Victory Gardens: WWII in the Hawkeye State”, we remember and commemorate that momentous occasion.  Through local headlines, personal letters, and historic artifacts, we will tell the Quad Cities' WWII story.  The exhibit will be open thru Jan. 17 and is included with general admission.  Purchase timed tickets for entry.

In 1872, John Deere's son, Charles, built Overlook (now Deere-Wiman House) for his wife, Mary Little Dickinson Deere, and their daughters.  Overlook served as home to four generations of Deere descendants.  In 1892, Charles Deere built Butterworth Center a block from his own home as a wedding gift for his youngest daughter Katherine and her husband William Butterworth. Over the years, the Butterworths tripled the size of their home, which they named Hillcrest.
