Halloween Fun in the QC 2022
The spookiest time of the year is upon us once again, which means plenty of scary (and not so scary) things to do and see in the Quad Cities. From silly trunk-or-treat events to terrifyingly haunted forests, there’s something for everyone that are worth a day trip or overnight stay.
The Empower House’s Spooktacular 5K and Fall Festival is shaping up to be yet another amazing annual fundraising event. The response from the Quad Cities community has been amazing. The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for Empower House and proceeds for the event help support programming for the non-profit. The festival will run from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on October 8th at Quinlan Court in Davenport, Iowa. Admission to the festival is free and open to the public. There is something for everyone. Join us on Sunday, October 16 as we celebrate Día de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, at the Figge Art Museum during our FREE Family Day. Honor the memories of loved ones through music, dance, food, and community. Step inside the museum to visit the exhibitions on view, along with the traditional altar on view in the Figge’s Quad City Bank & Trust Grand Lobby.
On Saturday, October 22nd, Silver Bell Hollow will be having their 2nd Annual Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat Event. This event will be packed with fall fun for the entire family, with activities like an alpaca meet and greet, games, crafts, and several trunk-or-treat stations. All ages are welcome to dress up and join in the fun, with free hot dogs and water. There is a registration fee of $12.50 for anyone aged 3 and up but there are no additional fees after that.
Scarecrow Row is Geneseo’s favorite Halloween tradition and returns to Geneseo City Park on Saturday, October 29, from 10 am-4 pm. Children are invited to dress up and trick-or-treat at the Geneseo City Park among the Scarecrows from 10 am-12 pm. The trick-or-treating fun happens from 10 am-12 pm, but the scarecrows will be set up at the park until 4pm. Everyone (including businesses.) is encouraged to create a scarecrow for the event, and free scarecrow frames will be available from Smith Studio & Gallery starting October 1st. Frightening Fun for Everyone (including the kiddos)
Put on your costumes and join the fun at Greenvalley Softball Complex for the 3rd Annual Spooktacular Trunk or Treat. On October 29th from 3 pm – 5 pm, you can walk through the parking lot to stop by different businesses and organizations while “trunk or treating.” Admission is free, so bring the family and enjoy some candy.
On October 29th, you can participate in the Witches’ Walk and Costume Contest. Enter as an individual or group. There won’t be a formal parade, but at 10:30 am, Trick or Treaters will be allowed to immediately head up Cody Road to Trick or Treat. There will be games, balloon animals, and LeClaire Fire Truck at the Civic Center parking lot. Check out the fun Trunk or Treat in the Civic Center parking, too. The festivities will go all the way until 1:30 pm.
Dress up your little ghosts and goblins for our 7th annual Not So Scary Halloween Walk at the QC Botanical Center. Bring your flashlights and explore the Sun Garden – search for spiders, bats, jack-o-lanterns, and toads as you wander down the darkened pathways. Get a glimpse of the Halloween train in our popular train garden. It’s not so scary in our gardens, making this event great for all. All children take home a goodie bag after the fun, so leave your trick-or-treat buckets at home. General admission is free for members and only $9.00 for non-members.

Once called “The Wickedest City in America,” Davenport has a long and checkered past. From being a hub for gangsters, thieves, brothels, and flophouses, to ghosts who still want to be seen. History and ghosts are everywhere in Rock Island. Take this tour and learn about our downtown spirits. A place with this much history is bound to be haunted by it. On a typical ghost tour, you'll be told about ghosts from the long-gone past. On our tours, you'll learn about the past and experience the hauntings happening now. Our tours usually feature one or more mediums who tell you what they're seeing and sensing now. This tour is for ages 13 and up, but QC Haunts does offer a tour for the younger ones. On October 9th and 16th, QC Haunts is offering kid-friendly ghost walking tours for ages 7 and up. Tickets will be $10 a person and will be shorter and less spooky than the adult tours.

Celebrate the mystery of Halloween with Circa '21 in Rock Island and Clue the Musical. The popular game is now a musical that brings the well-known suspects to life and invites the audience to help solve the mystery of who killed Mr. Boddy. Comic antics, witty lyrics, and a beguiling score carry the investigation from room to room. Even after the culprit confesses, there is still a surprise twist for the audience to decipher. Cut a spooky rug with the energy and movement of the 70s at The Outing Club’s Halloween Disco on October 20-21 with Ballet Quad Cities. Doors open at 5:30 pm, with a performance by fifteen professional dancers at 7:30 pm. There will be cocktails, dinner, and a Best Dressed contest so come dressed to impress.
Come and join us for a spooktacular evening of music at the Common Chord for the Family Halloween Show. This is a unique interactive concert experience dedicated to making music fun for kids while also saving the “Braaaiiins” of parents. Come listen to Halloween-inspired songs with incorporated interactive activities for the little ones and those young at heart. We will have costume contests, candy offerings, pizza, as well as a photo booth to capture you and your little monsters. So come on out on October 23rd and enjoy the fun. Doors open at 3:30 pm and the show begins at 4:00 pm.
The month kicks off with the first of its kind Halloween Lighted Kayak Parade on October 1. They've been having them on the Rock River for a couple years, but this year they are moving to the Mississippi River to go under the new I-74 bridge. Kayaks will start at the boat launch by The Bend in East Moline at 7 pm and paddle down to Bass Street Landing in Moline. This is a short 4 mile paddle and should take only about 1 hr.
Join the celebration as we celebrate the lives of our loved ones at the first Día de los Muertos Parade, sponsored by R3 Roofing and Exteriors. On October 22, 2022, beginning at 2:30 pm the parade will begin, and following the last parade participant, the public is invited to join the parade and walk the remainder of the route. The parade will start on 12th street and River Drive in Moline, then end back where it started. The Bettendorf 2022 Halloween Parade is scheduled for Saturday, October 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The parade will begin at the intersection of 23rd Street and Middle Road and finish at the entrance of the Life Fitness / Splash Landing parking lot. Come out and party.
Downtown Davenport will be filled with ghouls and goblins Sunday, October 30 as the City’s annual Halloween parade kicks off at 2:00 p.m.

The Asylum of MAD Dreams in Cordova is a 45-minute horror experience through multiple haunts. Also featuring the INSANE BUS RIDE, this haunted house promises to “haunt your dreams”.

The QC Haunted Forest attraction in Port Byron has been renovated and will be better than ever. The new owners are excited to bring the Quad Cities top haunted forest back in 2022. We have refined many of their processes and added several haunted features that are sure to give you nightmares. General admission is $15.00 when purchased online, and $20.00 when bought at the door.
